You have to choose your battles, and he did end 7th grade with a 3.6 GPA. He attends a private Christian school and their curriculum is challenging to say the least. Of course this type of haircut would not be allowed at school. I think of it as his summer fling. He's a good kid. Respectful and polite. A crusader for the underdog, his faith is rock solid.
I am proud of the young man he has become. I just don't understand how he grew up so quickly. My little premie baby is almost as tall as me!

Aaaaaaah your son is a handsome young man, and I completely agree that you need to pick your battles. A semi-radical haircut isn't one of them. My 19 year old has 2 earrings (eeeep!) and 3 or 4 tattoos, but this boy (my baby, still!) still picks up the cat and carries him around the house like a baby. He's still my sweet boy underneath the interesting body embellishments :) He's out the door at 5:00 a.m. to go to work (pre-apprentice electrician) and doesn't get home until 5:00 p.m. - never complains about the long day - drives me around when I need it, still does chores at home, calls when he's going to be late, doesn't beat up on his younger brother (lol) - those things are FAR more important than a bit of self-expression that hurts nobody!
He's a cutie! Even with the mohawk, that smile just makes you melt inside, I am certain. I remember when my sister put Kool AId in her hair and it turned pik. Aaah, to be young again.... Lori
With 4 boys..I so relate...we don't actually have battles anymore...just very thoughtful disagreements...lol..they are all way smarter and kinder than I ever was at their age...but they look like people I would never be allowed to bring home to meet the folks!
What a handsome guy!! Steph said she likes Cob's new haircut.
Your son is a handsome guy...even with the mohawk! :-)
I agree that the important things are not what style his hair is in or what clothes he's wearing as long as he is a happy, well-adjusted, and kind person. It sounds like he is, and Summer will be over before you know it.
My "little" niece and nephew are visiting us in California for a few days, and it's amazing to me how much they grow between visits!! I can't believe that my nephew is going into 5th grade!! Wow how time flies!! We were talking about his hair today, as a matter of fact. The "in" style for his age and where he lives is the "skater" look. That's the same style as what we called the "stoner" look when I was in high school! I hope he outgrows the long hair phase soon because he's so much cuter with his short haircut. BUT, it's like you said, you pick your battles, and he's an amazing, smart, kind, happy, wonderful kid so his mom and dad let him keep the long hair.
Glad that your son gets to have the fun hairdo for the summer!
Hugs,
Michele
